Types Of Education Franchises in Singapore

Education franchises come in different forms. Some brands advertise opportunities for running schools in different locations. Some request specific services, which is great for people who do not want the responsibility that comes with school operations.

Some of the categories of education franchises include;

  1. Tutoring franchises
  2. Student care franchises
  3. Test preparation franchises
  4. Preschool franchises
  5. Special learning needs franchises
  6. Career training franchises
  7. Curriculum preparation franchises

Education business franchise opportunities have been on the rise in Singapore. Understandably, the education industry is thriving, and competition is getting stiffer. Brands are finding ways to dominate the industry, and franchising is one way.

Tutoring Franchises

Tuition is prevalent in Singapore, with over 70% of parents enrolling their children in various tuition centres. Some schools have decided to get into education, but instead of training or increasing the workload for the teachers, they opt for franchising.

This way, someone else takes on the role of providing tuition services, but under the name of the school. The brand is involved in the training of tutors and performs quality checks to ensure everything is going well.

This technique works because some parents prefer sending their children to tutors who will follow the same approach as the mainstream education system.

Student Care

Some institutions opt to focus on formal education, from preschool upwards. However, most working parents might struggle to find time for their little ones when they end school, as they are preoccupied with work. This is why many parents in Singapore send their kids to afterschool student care centres where they can rest, get assistance for schoolwork and play.

With the increasing demand for student care centres, businesses are expanding by offering franchises.

Test Preparation

The other category of education franchising is test preparation. This category of franchising may be for internal school examination preparations or test papers affiliated with the brand but available for sale to students of other schools.

High-achieving schools use their popularity and reputation to provide test preparation booklets and papers.

Preschool Franchises

Like infant care, preschool franchises are available to increase primary school intake since the chances of children moving from preschool to primary school in the same school are higher. However, to minimize costs or to reduce pressure on the current management, the school may choose to franchise the preschool section.

Some schools also franchise preschools in different neighbourhoods since most parents prefer to have children in preschools closer to home. ‘]

Special Learning Needs

Although this is not a typical learning franchise, some institutions seek franchises to cater to children with special needs. This franchise may be designed to have a different program and trained staff to cater to the needs of children in need of specialized care and attention.

Career Training

Some franchises focus on staff training. This franchise may cover all those who provide services to children. It may include teachers, caregivers, cooks, nurses, etc. The franchise may be tasked with staff enrollment and training.

The idea is to ensure all those operating under the brand follow a standardized guide. This way, parents and students get the same service from all franchises.

Curriculum Preparation

Another common area open for franchising is curriculum preparation. Most learning franchises follow the brands’ academic programs. However, the franchisor sometimes tweaks the curriculum to integrate educational system changes.

The franchisor prepares these changes and then transfers them to the franchises. This franchising type is uncommon, but education brands occasionally offer this opportunity.

Education business franchising comes in different forms. However, the parent company is always involved and maintains some control over how the franchise operates.
